Palo Alto Medical Clinic

The Palo Alto Medical Clinic, also known as the Roth Building, is a historic site located in Palo Alto, California. Built in 1932, it showcases Spanish Colonial Revival architecture and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Founded by Dr. Russell V. Lee and several partners, the clinic was notable for pioneering group medical practice and included one of the first female doctors in the area, Esther Clark. The building features unique architectural elements, including a U-shape design, clay roof tiles, and a rustic wood balcony. Notably, it houses a series of medically-themed fresco murals by artist Victor Arnautoff, which sparked controversy upon their unveiling. Currently, the city plans to restore the building for use as the Palo Alto History Museum, although renovations have faced delays.
