Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern

The Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern was built in 1926 as an underground municipal drinking-water reservoir and was rehabilitated and reopened in 2016 as a subterranean public art and event space. Its columned, tiled interior provides a distinctive atmospheric setting used for site-specific installations, sound-and-light presentations, and guided tours. The space is managed as part of Buffalo Bayou Park programming and hosts ticketed events and public tours.
