Norwood Tower

The Norwood Tower, a historic landmark in downtown Austin, Texas, was completed in 1929 and was the city's tallest commercial building at the time. Known for its Gothic Revival architecture, it features unique design elements such as gargoyles and a pinnacled roof line. Originally built as the Capital National Bank Building, it was the first fully air-conditioned office building in Austin and included the city's first self-parking garage. The tower has served various professional tenants over the decades and was renovated in the 1980s, earning its place on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011. Notably, it housed the only public restroom for African Americans in downtown Austin during the segregation era, highlighting its historical significance beyond architecture.
