The Grotto - cliffside rock grotto

The National Sanctuary of Our Sorrowful Mother (commonly called The Grotto) features a large man-made rock grotto and a cliffside shrine set against a natural rock face. The site, established by the Servite Fathers in the 1920s, incorporates stone terraces, Stations of the Cross, and cave-like rockwork as central devotional and landscape elements. Visitors encounter carved and arranged stone surfaces throughout the 62-acre sanctuary.
