The River View

The River View is a historic house located in Oakley, St. Mary's County, Maryland, notable for its well-preserved Flemish bond brick architecture. Built in the early 18th century by the Gardiner family, it later became the property of Ignatius Fenwick, a key military figure in Maryland's Revolutionary War Navy. The site also features the largest collection of early domestic dependencies in St. Mary's County, making it a significant destination for tourists and researchers interested in early American history. The River View was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.
