Scampini Block

The Scampini Block is a historic commercial building located at 289 North Main Street in Barre, Vermont, built in 1904. This elegant three-story granite structure showcases the craftsmanship of local granite carvers and served as a social hub for the area's immigrant stoneworkers, particularly those from Italy. The building features a distinctive facade with rusticated granite and Tuscan columns, and its interior boasts imported Italian marble floors. It was a center for the local Italian community and housed various fraternal societies and labor unions. The Scampini Block was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2007, making it a notable site for tourists and researchers interested in the region's cultural heritage.
