Emily Morgan Hotel (formerly Medical Arts Building)

The building opened in 1924 as the Medical Arts Building and is an example of Gothic Revival/Neo-Gothic commercial architecture in downtown San Antonio. It was later converted to the Emily Morgan Hotel and occupies a prominent site immediately adjacent to the Alamo. The structure is frequently cited in studies of early 20th-century downtown development in San Antonio. The hotel also has a longstanding local reputation for being haunted, which is part of regional folklore rather than documented fact.
