Tin How Temple (Mazu shrine)

Tin How Temple on Waverly Place in Chinatown is one of the oldest Chinese Taoist temples in the United States and is dedicated to the sea goddess Mazu (Tin How). The congregation traces its roots to the mid-19th century, with the temple commonly cited as first established around 1852; the current shrine occupies a hall above a storefront at its Waverly Place address.
