Fort Negley archaeological excavations

Fort Negley is a Union-built Civil War earthwork constructed in 1862. Archaeological investigations at the site have documented construction techniques, unearthed Civil War artifacts (including munitions and building foundations), and revealed features used during its occupation. Excavation results informed restoration and interpretation of the fort and its role in the Civil War history of Nashville.
