Old House of Keys

The Old House of Keys, located in Castletown, Isle of Man, served as the meeting place for the House of Keys, the lower house of Tynwald, from 1821 to 1874. This historic building was designed by Thomas Brine and reflects the island's parliamentary heritage, being part of the world's oldest continuous parliament. After the House of Keys relocated to Douglas, the building transitioned to a bank and underwent various renovations. In 2000, it was acquired by Manx National Heritage and restored to its 1866 appearance, opening as a museum in 2001, offering visitors a glimpse into the island's legislative history and architectural evolution.
