Franklin Apartments

The Franklin Apartments, also known as the Rood House, Antes House, and Coffin Apartments, is a historic building in Des Moines, Iowa, originally built as a single-family home in 1896. It was transformed into a seven-unit apartment building in 1914 and later remodeled into a three-unit structure by Frank B. Coffin. Located on Sixth Avenue, a key transportation route in the early 20th century, the building reflects the area's transition to higher-density residential use. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1996, making it a notable site for tourists and researchers interested in local history and architecture.
