Union Station (Richardsonian Romanesque former railroad terminal)

Union Station was constructed in 1900 as Nashville's Louisville & Nashville Railroad terminal and is an example of Richardsonian Romanesque architecture with its heavy stonework and arched entrance. After passenger rail service declined, the restored building was converted into the Union Station Hotel and reopened in the 1980s. The terminal's original architectural features, including the grand arched windows and vaulted interior spaces, remain prominent in the adaptive reuse. It is a documented landmark of Nashville's turn-of-the-century transportation architecture.
