Breydel building

The Breydel building, located in the European Quarter of Brussels, Belgium, served as the temporary headquarters for the European Commission from 1991 to 2004. Named after the legendary Flemish leader Jan Breydel, it was constructed rapidly to accommodate the Commission during renovations of the iconic Berlaymont building. Designed by architects André and Jean Polak, along with Marc Vanden Bossche and Johan Van Dessel, the building was completed in just 23 months and continues to house important EU departments today. Its unique history and architectural significance make it an interesting site for tourists and researchers alike.
