Steele Indian School Park (former Phoenix Indian School site)

The Phoenix Indian School operated on this site from 1891 until its closure in 1990 as part of the federal Indian boarding school system. The grounds were redeveloped as Steele Indian School Park and include memorials, interpretive signage, and preserved structures that acknowledge and interpret the site's history. The park combines recreational facilities with historical interpretation developed in consultation with Native communities.
