Huston-Tillotson University (merger of two closed colleges)

Huston-Tillotson University was formed by the 1952 merger of Samuel Huston College and Tillotson College, two historically Black colleges that ceased to exist as separate institutions after the consolidation. The merged institution continued on as a single historically Black college and later gained university status, maintaining archives and buildings tied to its predecessor schools. The campus and administrative address represent the continuity of those closed institutions under the Huston-Tillotson name.
