Old Boma, Dar es Salaam

The Old Boma is one of the oldest buildings in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, constructed in 1866-67 by Sultan Majid bin Said of Zanzibar. Located at the intersection of Morogoro Road and Sokoine Drive, it features distinctive Zanzibari-style carved wooden doors and coral stone walls. Originally built near the Sultan's palace, the building was restored during German colonial rule and now serves as the Dar es Salaam Centre for Architectural Heritage (DARCH). DARCH offers exhibitions on the city's architectural evolution and hosts temporary art and photography displays, making it a significant cultural site for tourists and researchers alike.
