First Callahan Building

The First Callahan Building, located at 276 Lisbon Street in Lewiston, Maine, is a historic commercial and residential structure built in 1892 by renowned architect George M. Coombs. This Renaissance Revival brick building features a striking facade with nine bays, metal and brick pilasters, and modern storefronts on the ground floor. Originally housing retail shops and offices, the upper floors have been converted into exclusive residential spaces. The building is part of a significant development by the Callahan brothers, who were successful local merchants. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986, making it a notable site for tourists and researchers interested in Lewiston's architectural and commercial history.
