Belle Isle (conservatory and island legends)

Belle Isle is a 982-acre island park in the Detroit River managed by the State of Michigan that houses the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory and the Belle Isle Aquarium. The island and its historic structures are frequent stops on local ghost-story and legend tours, with anecdotal reports of unexplained sounds and sightings in and around the old buildings; these reports are unverified and debated. Belle Isle is also noted for its designed landscape origins and long public recreational use.
