French Legation Museum - home of France's representative to the Republic of Texas

The French Legation Museum occupies a house built in 1841 for France's chargé d'affaires to the Republic of Texas and is one of Austin's oldest surviving frame structures. The site interprets the diplomatic history of the Republic of Texas and early Austin settlement through period furnishings, exhibits, and historic preservation. The property is maintained as a historic house museum and city park.
