Mission San José (Queen of the Missions)

Mission San José y San Miguel de Aguayo was established in 1720 and is notable for its large, ornate church and stone carvings, earning it the nickname 'Queen of the Missions.' It is the largest of the San Antonio missions complex and has extensive restored structures and an adjacent granary. Mission San José is part of the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park and was included in the San Antonio Missions UNESCO World Heritage Site designation in 2015.
