Transamerica Pyramid

Designed by architect William Pereira and completed in 1972, the Transamerica Pyramid is San Francisco's most recognizable modern skyscraper due to its tapered, four-sided pyramid form. It served as the headquarters and visual logo of the Transamerica Corporation and was the tallest building in San Francisco from 1972 until the completion of Salesforce Tower in 2018. The building's floorplate and silhouette were intentionally distinctive within the city's skyline and have made it a common subject in photographs and film.
