Kreeger Museum (Philip Johnson modernist house-museum)

Designed by architect Philip Johnson and constructed 1963–1967, the Kreeger Museum is a modernist brick-and-glass building in Northwest Washington that was purpose-built to display the modern art collection of David and Carmen Kreeger. The building integrates formal gallery spaces with carefully composed views of the surrounding landscape and is regarded as a notable example of mid-20th-century residential/museum architecture. The estate opened as a public museum after the Kreegers' bequest and continues to interpret both its art collection and its architectural design.
