Book Tower (early 20th-century skyscraper)

The Book Tower was completed in 1926 and was developed by the Book family as a mixed-use office and commercial skyscraper. Designed by architect Louis Kamper, the building rises 38 stories and is noted for its ornate exterior and historic interior detailing. It fell into long-term vacancy in the late 20th century and later underwent phased restoration and redevelopment to return office, residential, and retail space to downtown Detroit. The tower is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as part of Detroit's early skyscraper stock.
