City Federal Building

The City Federal Building, a historic skyscraper in Birmingham, Alabama, was completed in 1913 and designed by architect William C. Weston. Standing at 27 stories and 325 feet, it was the tallest building in the Southeast upon completion and held the title of tallest in Alabama until 1969. Today, it ranks as the fifth tallest building in Birmingham and remains the tallest neoclassical structure in the South. The building has undergone renovations, including the relighting of its iconic red neon sign in 2005, marking its revitalization. It has cultural significance, being referenced in the song 'City Federal Building' by the Birmingham soul band St. Paul and The Broken Bones.
