Original Palace Hotel (1875 building)

The original Palace Hotel opened in 1875 as one of San Francisco's grand 19th-century hotels on the site now occupied by the modern Palace Hotel. The 1875 structure was destroyed by fire in the aftermath of the 1906 earthquake and subsequently demolished. A new Palace Hotel was constructed and reopened in 1909 on the same site; the original building no longer exists.
