Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP) - founded by Paul Allen

The Museum of Pop Culture (originally the Experience Music Project) at Seattle Center was founded and funded by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen and opened in 2000. The museum building, designed by architect Frank Gehry, houses exhibits on popular music, science fiction, and other aspects of contemporary popular culture, with a particular emphasis on Seattle's music scenes. Paul Allen's founding of the museum links the institution directly to a prominent Seattle figure in technology and cultural philanthropy.
