U.S. Mint (Philadelphia)

The U.S. Mint was established by the Coinage Act of 1792 with its first facilities in Philadelphia; the Philadelphia Mint remains the nation's first and primary minting site. The current Mint complex on Independence Mall produces circulating coinage and collectible coins and has operated at multiple locations in the city since the 18th century. The Philadelphia Mint's historical continuity documents federal coin-production infrastructure from the early republic to the present.
