Cliff House (Lands End)

Perched on the headlands at Lands End overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the Cliff House first opened in 1863 and has been rebuilt and remodeled several times following fires and changing ownership. The site became closely associated with Adolph Sutro's late-19th-century recreational developments, including the Sutro Baths, and has long been a prominent coastal dining and observation venue. The building's successive iterations reflect shifting architectural styles and the site's continuing role as a public overlook of the Golden Gate entrance.
