Helsinki Old Church

The Old Church of Helsinki, completed in 1826 and designed by Carl Ludvig Engel, is the oldest existing church in central Helsinki. Initially intended as a temporary structure due to the growing congregation, it features neoclassical architecture and has a rich history, including furnishings salvaged from the demolished Ulrika Eleonora Church. The church is set in Old Church Park, a recreational area that was once a cemetery, known for its historical significance, including graves from the 1710 plague and memorials from the Finnish Civil War. Visitors can appreciate both the architectural beauty of the church and the serene park surroundings.
