Howard House (Palestine, Texas)

Howard House, built in 1848 by Texas State Supreme Court Justice Reuben A. Reeves, is a historic site in Palestine, Texas. After Reeves' departure, the house was owned by local merchant and Confederate officer George R. Howard, who also served as mayor. The house remained in the Howard family until it was purchased by the city in 1964 to serve as a museum. Now listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Howard House Museum showcases a late 19th-century interior and is available for tours and special events by appointment, making it an intriguing destination for history enthusiasts and tourists alike.
