Transamerica Pyramid-San Francisco's iconic former tallest skyscraper

The Transamerica Pyramid at 600 Montgomery St was completed in 1972 and, at 853 feet, became San Francisco's tallest skyscraper. It remained the city's tallest building until Salesforce Tower surpassed it after topping out in 2017 and opening in 2018. The building's distinctive pyramidal form was chosen to reduce its shadow on adjacent streets and to address structural and aesthetic goals.
