Big Tex fire and rebuild

Big Tex, the 55-foot cowboy icon of the State Fair of Texas at Fair Park, was destroyed by an electrical fire on October 19, 2012. Photographs and video of the burning figure circulated widely online and in news media. A new Big Tex was constructed and returned to Fair Park for the 2013 State Fair.
