Edward Waters University (historic HBCU)

Edward Waters University was founded in 1866 by the African Methodist Episcopal Church and is the oldest historically black college in Florida. The university has served as an educational and cultural institution for Jacksonville's Black community for over a century, hosting commencement ceremonies, cultural events, and public lectures. Its campus and alumni have played a visible role in the city's civic and cultural life.
