Luxor Sky Beam atop the Luxor pyramid

The Luxor Sky Beam crowns the Luxor Hotel's black glass pyramid and is produced by 39 xenon lamps, creating one of the strongest concentrated beams of light used on any building. The vertical column of light is visible from many miles away and serves as a distinctive night-time landmark on the south Strip. The Luxor resort and its beam opened in the early 1990s and the beam is activated nightly. The installation is frequently cited in accounts of notable architectural lighting features in Las Vegas.
