Todd Block

The Todd Block is a historic commercial and civic building located at 27-31 Main Street in Hinsdale, New Hampshire. This architecturally diverse structure consists of two buildings conjoined in 1895, showcasing Second Empire styling in its front portion, which is one of only two such commercial buildings in the town, and the only one still standing. Built in 1862, it originally featured shops on the ground floor and residential apartments above, complete with a distinctive two-story porch and decorative elements. The rear section, constructed in 1895, served as a hall for the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, featuring a richly adorned Queen Anne porch. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988, the Todd Block is a rare example of mid-sized commercial architecture in the area and played a significant role in the town's commerce, housing its first drugstore until 1956. The building was later rehabilitated for residential use while retaining a smaller storefront.
