Fort Bowman

Fort Bowman, also known as Harmony Hall, is a historic house located near Middletown, Virginia, built in 1753 by Pennsylvania German settler George Bowman. This two-story limestone building features original woodwork and a later kitchen wing, along with a distinctive iron and wood portico. The site includes a dairy/smokehouse and the Bowman graveyard, where notable figures like Isaac Bowman are buried. Recognized for its historical significance, Fort Bowman was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1969, making it a fascinating destination for tourists and researchers interested in early American history and architecture.
