Greenwich Village townhouse explosion

On March 6, 1970 an accidental detonation occurred in a townhouse at 18 West 11th Street while occupants were assembling explosive devices. The blast destroyed the building, killed three people inside, and prompted a major police investigation into radical anti–Vietnam War groups operating in the city. The event influenced public perception and law enforcement approaches to domestic militancy in New York.
