Teatro Laura Alves

Teatro Laura Alves, located at 253 Rua da Palma in Lisbon, Portugal, opened on December 29, 1968, in a building that was previously the Cinema Rex, which had been a popular venue since its opening in 1936. The theatre was named after actress Laura Alves and hosted a variety of performances, including notable plays like 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?' and revues. It closed in December 1987 following Alves' death and was later repurposed for commercial use. Tragically, the building was destroyed by fire in May 2012, marking the end of a significant cultural landmark in Lisbon's theatrical history.
