Jishan Gatehouse

Jishan Gatehouse, located in Beitun District, Taichung, Taiwan, is a historic structure originally built as the southern entrance to a traditional sanheyuan. Constructed by the Lai family, early Han Chinese settlers from Fujian, the gatehouse reflects the family's heritage and beliefs in feng shui, which influenced its reconstruction in 1924 to enhance prosperity and safety. The name 'accumulate goodwill tower' embodies the family's hope for future generations to act kindly.
