Union Building, Aldershot

The Union Building, located on Hospital Hill in Aldershot, Hampshire, is a Grade II listed structure with a rich history dating back to around 1629. Originally built as a sub-manor for Sir Richard Tichborne, it later served various roles including an Aldershot Workhouse and a school for pauper children. In 1854, it became one of the first permanent buildings for the British Army, functioning as a military hospital until 1879. The building has survived significant events, including a fire in 1907 and an incendiary attack during World War II, and has since been converted into flats. Its historical significance and architectural heritage make it an interesting site for tourists and researchers alike.
