Cambrian Railways works

The Cambrian Railways works, located in Oswestry, Shropshire, is a historic railway engineering building that played a significant role in the town's development during the 19th century. Established in 1865, it was crucial for the Cambrian Railways' operations, featuring a locomotive erecting shop and extensive facilities for carriage and wagon repairs. Although it primarily built carriages and wagons, only two locomotives were constructed on-site. After its closure in the 1960s, the site has been repurposed for various uses, including an antiques centre and a health centre, which opened in 2011, providing outpatient services and a Minor Injury Unit. The iconic 150-foot chimney remains a local landmark, making the site an interesting visit for tourists and researchers alike.
