Watson-Curtze Mansion

The Watson-Curtze Mansion, a historic house in Erie, Pennsylvania, is a stunning example of Richardsonian Romanesque architecture, designed by the Buffalo firm Green & Wicks and built between 1891 and 1892. This 24-room mansion features intricate stained glass windows, hand-carved woodwork, and Tiffany light fixtures, making it a treasure trove for architecture enthusiasts. Originally home to roofing magnate Harrison F. Watson and later to Frederic Felix Curtze, the mansion became a museum in 1941 and is now operated by the Erie County Historical Society. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 and is situated in the West Sixth Street Historic District, offering visitors a glimpse into the opulent lifestyle of the late 19th century.
