Japanese Tea Garden (Golden Gate Park)

The Japanese Tea Garden in Golden Gate Park traces its origins to landscaping for the 1894 California Midwinter International Exposition and was later developed and maintained by gardener Makoto Hagiwara. It is widely regarded as the oldest public Japanese garden in the United States. The site contains a Tea House, a drum bridge, stone lanterns, and sculpted plantings that reflect traditional Japanese garden design.
