Guardian Building (Art Deco skyscraper)

Completed in 1929 and designed by architect Wirt C. Rowland, the Guardian Building was originally built as the Union Trust Building. The structure is noted for its bold Art Deco design and richly ornamented interior featuring extensive colorful tilework and mosaics. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and remains a prominent historic landmark in downtown Detroit.
