Francis and Abbie Solon House

The Francis and Abbie Solon House, located at 503 South State Street in Champaign, Illinois, is a historic Italianate-style home built in 1867 by developer William Barrett. Designed by architect Seeley Brown, it features a distinctive wraparound porch, decorative brackets, and a square cupola, embodying the Tuscan Villa subtype. The house has a rich history, having been owned by the Harwood family for nearly four decades before being passed to the Solons, who maintained it until 2005. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2007 and has recently undergone renovations to restore it as a single-family residence, making it an interesting site for both tourists and researchers interested in architectural history.
