Colton's Block

Colton's Block is a historic series of commercial buildings located at 586–590 Main Street in Worcester, Massachusetts, built in the 1860s. This unique structure consists of three similarly-styled four-story brick buildings, notable for being the last remaining example of a once-common commercial architectural style in the area. The buildings feature distinct design elements such as projecting piers and a decorative cornice. Originally developed by Samuel Colton, a notable figure in Worcester's history, the block has housed various businesses over the years, primarily dry goods retailers. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980, Colton's Block now primarily serves as residential space, making it a fascinating site for both tourists and researchers interested in local history and architecture.
