Government House, British Virgin Islands

Government House, situated in Road Town, Tortola, serves as the official residence of the governor of the British Virgin Islands. The site has a rich history, with the original structure built in 1889, which was destroyed by a hurricane in 1924. A new building was constructed in 1925-26 and served various officials until it was deemed unsuitable in 1999. Following public outcry, a modern Government House was completed in 2003, while the historic building was converted into a museum.
