South Dakota Governor's Residence

The South Dakota Governor's Residence, located in Pierre, is the official home of the state's governor, currently occupied by Larry Rhoden. Inaugurated in 2005, this impressive 14,000-square-foot mansion was built with private and business donations at a cost of $2.87 million. It sits on the picturesque east shore of Capitol Lake, replacing an older governor's mansion that was relocated near Rapid City. The residence not only serves as a home but also as a symbol of the state's governance and history.
