Fort Caroline National Memorial archaeology

Fort Caroline National Memorial commemorates the 1564 French Huguenot settlement near the St. Johns River. National Park Service archaeologists have conducted surveys and excavations in and around the memorial to investigate evidence of the 16th-century European presence and associated Native American activity. Interpretive materials at the site are informed by those archaeological investigations.
