Mutual Reserve Building

The Mutual Reserve Building, located at 305 Broadway in Manhattan's Tribeca neighborhood, is a historic 13-story office building completed in 1894. Designed in the Romanesque Revival style by architect William H. Hume, it features a striking facade of granite and limestone with decorative arcades and rusticated stone piers. Notably, it was one of the first skyscrapers in New York to utilize a cage-like steel frame structure, marking a significant advancement in architectural engineering. Originally serving as the headquarters for the Mutual Reserve Fund Life Association, the building has undergone several name changes and ownership transitions, reflecting its evolving role in the city.
